STRENGTHENING of telemetry & telecommunication activities

April 2006: the ZODIAC group takes over the Aerospace & Defense and Space Ground Segment activities of ENERTEC

The ZODIAC group has finalized the acquisition of the Space Ground Segment and AeroSpace & Defense activities of ENERTEC company from the LP2C group.

Within the Technology Segment, ENERTEC is attached to IN-SNEC, a subsidiary of the ZODIAC group specialized in Telemetry and Telecommunication systems.

With this acquisition, IN-SNEC strengthens its leading position for Ground TT&C equipment and Airborne Video/Data Recorders. It also increases its presence in international markets, particularly in the USA.

This operation, with the complementarity of the two companies' know-how, secures investments made by our customers and partners. Additionally, it improves quality and service, presenting a broader range of products, and drives technology innovation for our customers' applications.

The Security/vehicle-borne videosurveillance activity of Enertec becomes the SVS company, still owned by the LP2C group, reference shareholder of the Actielec Technologies group.

HDR Contract

IN-SNEC, the Paris-based leading edge telemetry company, won a $1+ Million contract from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to provide 10 of its next generation Multi-mission High Data Rate demodulators, referred to as the Cortex HDR XL, for installation at 3 command and data acquisition ground stations. The contract was awarded through an exhaustive set of benchmark tests done by a NOAA-led evaluation team, which culminated in successful real-time field testing of multiple high data rate spacecraft missions, at which IN/SNEC’s programmable demodulator demonstrated its versatility.

The demodulators have the flexibility to support multiple modulation phases, Viterbi, and data rates from 1 to 400 Mbps. Under the contract, IN-SNEC will provide these 10 fully programmable X-Band demodulators to support several current high data rate missions, among which are the WindSat Coriolis missions, NASA’s AQUA and TERRA, and future missions such as METOP and the NPOESS Preparatory Project (NPP).
